Dr. Christie Taylor
We are so very excited to announce Dr. Christie Taylor will be joining the Southern Crossing Animal Hospital family in July! As many of you know, Dr. Ashleigh White and Dr. Carondelet Nollner have been a team for 5 years. We are so blessed to add Dr. Taylor to our doctor team and can’t wait for you and your fur babies to meet her. During our search, we got to know Dr. Taylor and her family and want to introduce her to you. So, here are a few of her favorite things!!
Where are you originally from?
I grew up in Batesville, MS, but I have called the greater Memphis area home for the past 13 years.
How and when did you decide that you wanted to be a Veterinarian?
Unlike most of my colleagues, the dream to pursue veterinary medicine did not resonate with me until college. I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in medicine, but medical school did not appeal to me. I should have known all along that I would someday end up working with animals. When I was 11 years old, I checked out every book on husbandry and training for dogs from the local library and read them from cover to cover in efforts to convince my parents to purchase a golden retriever puppy. My plan worked, and Chellbin became my constant companion until he passed away my first year of veterinary school. He was my first dog, and my first experience as a pet owner, but also my first experience with the heartache of losing a beloved pet. He taught me so much about the steadfast, unconditional love of animals.
How did you land at Southern Crossing Animal Hospital?
After 13 years in practice and 10 of those years in corporate medicine, I was looking for a private practice that provided both gold-standard veterinary care, as well as an atmosphere that supported women, particularly working mothers, in the veterinary profession. The opportunity to work alongside such phenomenal doctors as Dr. Nollner and Dr. White was what truly sealed the deal. The atmosphere that they have created at Southern Crossing Animal Hospital is very rare, and very special. I am so excited to join this team.
What’s your favorite part about being a Veterinarian?
As a general practice veterinarian, I get to wear so many hats every day. I practice internal medicine, surgery, anesthesiology, dentistry, pediatric medicine, geriatric medicine, dermatology, ophthalmology, radiology, ultrasonography, preventative medicine, pharmacology… the list goes on. Each day is very different from the day before and presents another chance to learn and grow and stretch myself.
Tell me about your pets.
I have two dogs – a golden retriever named Rosie and an Australian Shepherd named Remi, as well as a kitten named Rupert.
Tell me about your human family members.
I have been married for 15 years to my childhood best friend, Josh. Together we have four boys – Sawyer (10), Wilder (7), Foster (3) and Miller (6 months).
What’s something about you that might surprise others?
I LOVE music! I played the clarinet for seven years in my high school band and was drum major my senior year.
What’s your favorite food?
What a hard question! I’m a bit of a foodie, and there honestly isn’t much I don’t like. If I had to choose, it would probably be a nice smoked salmon filet with roasted sweet potatoes and Brussel sprouts. I’m also a sucker for bread pudding.
Favorite kind of movie?
Definitely RomComs or Dramedies! A nice, light-hearted, funny movie is such a great way to unwind.
Biggest fear? (This can be funny… don’t take it too seriously.)
Spiders! I can’t even bring myself to get close enough to them to kill them.
Dog or cat person?
BOTH! I own both, and I really enjoy treating both!
Favorite hobby?
Reading, spending time with my boys and attending their sporting events, trying new recipes
Spa weekend or camping weekend?
As a mom of four boys, I am always in need of a spa weekend. I don’t think I would enjoy camping unless it is more along the lines of “glamping” in a nice camper, but I really enjoy beautiful scenery.
Tell me a few things that are on your bucket list or something you’d like to accomplish in the next 5 years.
I’d love to read through the Bible chronologically. I’ve studied the Bible since I was a child, but I’ve never read through it in that manner.
I’d like to run a half marathon someday.
We can’t wait for our Southern Crossing pet parents and pets to meet Dr. Taylor and welcome her to our crew. She will begin seeing patients, Monday, July 17th. Give us a call if you want to schedule an appointment with her…or just drop by to welcome her to the practice! We are planning a special social event to properly introduce her so stay tuned to social media and your email for an invitation for this event!
As always, we are so grateful for each of you and the care you provide to your pet family. Thanks always for trusting us and allowing us to partner in their care. You are our family!
