Veterinary Services For Ultrasound/Echocardiogram
We carry the latest advances in technology to help diagnose the most difficult cases. Our imaging capabilities include digital ultrasound equipment. This is a painless, noninvasive method to evaluate many common pet diseases. Our Ultrasound allows us to evaluate the following:
- Cardiac ultrasound (echocardiogram) to evaluate heart valves that lead to heart murmurs, heart rhythm disturbances, fluid in the heart sac (pericardium), screening for heart defects, pulmonary hypertension, heart muscle diseases (cardiomyopathy) and early disease detection in asymptomatic patients. There are many breeds that are predisposed to cardiac disease and early screening is key to successful treatment.
- Abdominal ultrasound to evaluate the vital organs of the abdomen (liver, spleen, kidneys, etc), to assess for fluid in the abdomen, causes of vomiting and diarrhea, cancer screening, bladder evaluation for tumors, bladder stones, reproductive disease, pregnancy evaluation, hormonal diseases (Cushing’s disease), pancreatitis.
- Abdominal and Cardiac FAST ultrasound exams are used in emergency situations to evaluate the degree of internal trauma or, issues with lungs in patients with difficulty breathing. They are also used to help guide the veterinarian in additional diagnostic testing or treatment for our patient’s symptoms.
- Ultrasound guided biopsies and cytologies are also performed by our veterinary team. These procedures provide an avenue of procuring diagnostic samples via a less invasive procedure than surgical incisions.
