Southern Crossing Animal Hospital is happy to provide and assist in many OFA tests for registration for your dog. OFA tests help ensure that the offspring of your dog are more likely to be healthy and less prone to certain breed specific conditions such as hip/elbow dysplasia, thyroid disease, congenital eye issues, etc. Any dogs that are intended for breeding purposes should be tested based on the OFA-CHIC Health testing requirements. Click here to find out what tests should be performed based on the breed of your dog.

OFA Test Types

The specific tests that we can perform at Southern Crossing Animal Hospital include:

  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Elbow Dysplasia
  • Basic Cardiac Evaluation
  • Patella Luxation
  • Legg-Calve-Perthes
  • Serum Bile Acids for liver shunts

OFA Eye Certification examinations are screening exams performed by a board certified veterinary ophthalmologists only. Please contact Dr, Huey at Memphis Veterinary Specialists Ophthalmology Service at (901) 624-9002 for information regarding OFA Eye Certification.

Southern Crossing Animal Hospital is a firm believer that it is the responsibility of every breeder to try and advance the healthy, desirable traits of the breed. Furthermore, the offspring of dogs that meet OFA certification are more valuable in price. New owners of these puppies can be assured that certain genetic diseases are less likely when produced by OFA certified parents.

If you would like to schedule OFA testing for your dog or would like additional information, please call us at (901) 452-3171 or request an appointment through our website today.
